The Intel Atom x7-E3950 (approx. 2016/2017) targeted low-power embedded systems; the Intel Processor N100 (2023) is designed for energy-efficient mini-PCs and entry-level laptops.

The Atom x7-E3950 uses 14 nm Cherry Trail architecture (4 cores, 4 threads, 2 MB L3 cache). The newer N100 is based on 10 nm Alder Lake N architecture (4 cores, 4 threads, 4 MB L2, 6 MB L3 cache). The N100 significantly surpasses the Atom x7-E3950 in single-core and multi-core performance, offering higher computing power for everyday applications.

Neither CPU is optimized for gaming. However, the Intel UHD Graphics 24 EUs (Alder Lake) of the N100 offer noticeably better graphics performance than the Intel HD Graphics 505 of the Atom x7-E3950 for simple games. Both CPUs are designed for low power consumption. Thanks to its advanced manufacturing process, the N100 delivers higher performance per watt for thermally constrained systems.

The Atom x7-E3950 is an older model for specialized embedded applications. The N100 offers very good value for money in affordable mini-PCs and laptops for solid everyday performance. In conclusion: Atom x7-E3950 for simple embedded tasks. The N100 is the superior choice for modern applications with higher performance requirements.
