The Intel Atom x5-Z8550 is an extremely power-efficient processor, developed in 2016 for basic tasks in mobile devices.

Its 14nm manufacturing process and Cherry Trail architecture provide fundamental single- and multi-core performance. The integrated Intel HD Graphics 400 and a memory bandwidth of 26 GB/s severely limit its capabilities, making it suitable only for the simplest applications and very light multimedia use.

Its extremely low power consumption is its greatest advantage, ideal for fanless designs where maximum energy efficiency is required. It is primarily intended for systems where computing power is secondary. The Intel Processor N100, introduced in 2023, utilizes the more modern 10nm Alder Lake N architecture and offers significantly improved performance.

With four cores and four threads, as well as a larger L2 and L3 cache, it achieves substantially higher single- and multi-core performance. Its Intel UHD Graphics 24 EUs (Alder Lake) and a memory bandwidth of 38 GB/s enable better graphics performance for casual games and smoother media playback. With a moderate TDP, it is energy-efficient and perfectly suited for cost-effective mini-PCs and thin clients that need to handle everyday tasks such as browsing, office applications, and 4K video playback.
