V-Ray CPU-Render Benchmark

V-Ray is a 3D rendering software from the manufacturer Chaos for designers and artists. Unlike many other render engines, V-Ray is capable of so-called hybrid rendering, in which the CPU and GPU work together at the same time.

However, the CPU benchmark we used (CPU Render Mode) only uses the system's processor. The working memory used plays a major role in the V-Ray benchmark. For our benchmarks we use the fastest RAM standard approved by the manufacturer (without overclocking).

Due to the high compatibility of V-Ray (including Autodesk 3ds Max, Maya, Cinema 4D, SketchUp, Unreal Engine and Blender), it is a frequently used software. With V-Ray, for example, photorealistic images can be rendered that laypeople cannot distinguish from normal photos.

VS Description of the processor

Almost a year after the presentation of the AMD Ryzen 5 3600X, AMD has released the AMD Ryzen 5 3600XT, a slightly improved version of the popular desktop processor. The performance plus of the AMD Ryzen 5 3600XT is bought almost exclusively through a higher clock rate and thus through increased energy consumption. AMD also makes this clear by increasing the TDP of the processor from 95 to 105 watts. The clock increase is 200 to 300 MHz.

Both processors have 6 cores and support SMT, which enables them to process up to 12 threads simultaneously. The 32 MB level 3 cache accesses up to 128 GB DDR4-3200 RAM, which can also be accessed in dual-channel mode (2 memory channels). The Zen 2 cores of the processors can already connect external devices via PCIe 4.0 with up to 20 lines, which can lead to a speed boost, especially with M.2 SSDs.

Both processors do not have an internal graphics card (iGPU) and are therefore dependent on the use of a dedicated graphics card. On most mainboards, the processors can be overclocked, provided the system has sufficiently good processor cooling. The performance can be increased by a further 5-10 percent depending on the quality of the processor. Since the energy consumption rises sharply when the clock rate is increased, one should consider increasing the clock frequency further. Especially since both processors have a more than sufficiently strong performance.

If you are about to buy a new processor and you have chosen the AMD Ryzen 5 3600XT or the AMD Ryzen 5 3600X, you should choose the cheaper processor, as the additional performance of the AMD Ryzen 5 3600XT is limited and you also get the AMD Ryzen 5 3600X can also overclock to the same clock frequencies without any problems.

In our leaderboards, we have clearly compiled the best processors for specific categories for you. The leaderboards are always up to date and are regularly updated by us. The best processors are selected according to popularity and speed in benchmarks as well as the price-performance ratio.
