The AMD E2-1800 was introduced in the second quarter of 2012 and targeted the entry-level segment and energy-efficient systems such as netbooks or simple laptops.

The Intel Processor N150 was launched in the first quarter of 2023 and is also aimed at the market for low-cost, power-efficient devices, such as mini-PCs, thin clients, or Chromebooks.

The AMD E2-1800 is based on the Zacate (Bobcat) architecture and is manufactured using a 32-nm process. It has two cores. The Intel Processor N150 uses the Twin Lake architecture and is manufactured using a modern 7-nm process. It has four cores, which enables higher parallel processing.

In a direct comparison of computing performance, the Intel Processor N150 shows significantly superior single-core performance compared to the AMD E2-1800. In multi-core performance, the Intel Processor N150 is also considerably more powerful, which is due to its newer architecture and higher core count.

This leads to noticeably better responsiveness and efficiency in everyday applications. Both processors are only very limitedly suitable for gaming. The AMD E2-1800 integrates the AMD Radeon HD 7340 graphics unit with a maximum memory bandwidth of 11 GB/s. The Intel Processor N150 features Intel UHD Graphics 24 EUs (Alder Lake) and offers a higher maximum memory bandwidth of 38 GB/s.

The newer graphics unit of the Intel Processor N150 and the higher memory bandwidth allow for a slightly smoother display in very simple or older games. Neither is designed for more demanding titles. The Intel Processor N150 greatly benefits from its more advanced 7-nm manufacturing process, which enables significantly higher energy efficiency than the 32-nm process of the AMD E2-1800.

This results in lower power consumption and less heat generation, which is advantageous for fanless designs or devices with limited cooling. Both processors are positioned in the lower price segment. Given the significantly higher computing and graphics performance of the Intel Processor N150, it offers a much better price-performance ratio for modern applications, even if it may be more expensive in absolute terms than an AMD E2-1800, which is over ten years old and hardly available new today.

The AMD E2-1800 was a cost-effective option for basic tasks in its time. The Intel Processor N150 is a much more modern and powerful CPU suitable for a wider range of simple tasks. For basic office work, web browsing, and media playback where low power consumption is a priority, the Intel Processor N150 is the clear recommendation.

The AMD E2-1800 is now only conceivable for very specific, extremely undemanding use cases or as a replacement part in legacy systems.
