Intel Xeon D-2795NT vs AMD 3015Ce

Last updated:
The Intel Xeon D-2795NT was introduced in the first quarter of 2022 for professional server and edge applications, while the AMD 3015Ce appeared in 2021 specifically for budget Chromebooks and the education sector.

In terms of manufacturing, the Intel Xeon D-2795NT is based on the Ice Lake architecture in a 10-nanometer process and offers a high capacity with 20 cores and 40 threads. The AMD 3015Ce, on the other hand, uses the Dali architecture in a 14-nanometer process and has only two cores and four threads for basic computing tasks.

In benchmarks, the Intel Xeon D-2795NT shows superior multi-core performance for parallel processes and data-intensive workloads due to the massive number of cores. The single-core performance of the AMD 3015Ce is sufficient for simple basic tasks, but falls significantly behind in more complex applications by comparison.

Neither processor is designed for gaming scenarios. While the AMD 3015Ce at least has an integrated AMD Radeon RX Vega 3 (Raven Ridge) graphics unit for simple media playback, the Intel Xeon D-2795NT completely dispenses with internal graphics. The thermal design power of the Intel Xeon D-2795NT is 110 watts, which requires active cooling.

In contrast, the AMD 3015Ce operates extremely efficiently with a TDP of only 6 watts. At the maximum memory bandwidth, the Intel processor at 94 GB/s and 30 MB Level 2 cache is far ahead of the 13 GB/s of the AMD model. The AMD 3015Ce has 4 MB of Level 3 cache, while the Intel Xeon D-2795NT has no Level 3 cache.

In terms of price, the Intel Xeon D-2795NT is positioned in the professional segment, while the AMD 3015Ce represents an affordable entry-level solution. The Intel Xeon D-2795NT is recommended for servers with PCIe 4.0, while the AMD 3015Ce is ideal for mobile office tasks.
