Intel Processor N50 vs Intel Processor N97

Last updated:
The Intel Processor N50 and the Intel Processor N97 are energy-efficient processors from Intel's Alder Lake N architecture, manufactured using the 10 nm process.

They are designed for entry-level systems that prioritize low power consumption and cost-efficiency. The Intel Processor N50 is equipped with two efficient cores, 2 MB L2 cache, and 6 MB L3 cache. Its integrated Intel UHD Graphics 13th Gen (16 EU) and 38 GB/s maximum memory bandwidth support basic display tasks.

In performance tests, it shows solid single-core performance and basic multi-core performance. It is ideal for web browsing or word processing and the most economical option for systems with very low requirements. The Intel Processor N97, also manufactured using the 10 nm process, features four efficient cores, 4 MB L2 cache, and 6 MB L3 cache.

The integrated Intel UHD Graphics 24 EUs (Alder Lake) offers higher graphical performance with the same memory bandwidth. Compared to the N50, the N97 delivers over 10 percent better single-core performance and more than double the multi-core performance. This predestines it for multitasking and slightly more demanding applications.

Both CPUs are unsuitable for demanding gaming. However, due to its stronger graphics unit, the Intel Processor N97 offers a slightly improved capability for very simple games. Both are characterized by low power consumption and low Thermal Design Power (TDP), ideal for fanless or quiet systems.

The price-performance ratio of the Intel Processor N97 is more advantageous for most use cases beyond basic requirements due to the significant performance increase.
