Intel Core m3-6Y30 vs Intel Pentium N4200

Last updated:
The Intel Core m3-6Y30 was launched in late 2015 and was developed for fanless tablets.

It is based on the Skylake Y architecture and is manufactured using the 14-nanometer process. With two cores and four threads, this processor provides a solid foundation for everyday tasks. In benchmarks, the Intel Core m3-6Y30 shows significantly higher single-core and multi-core performance compared to its competitor.

In gaming scenarios, the Intel Core m3-6Y30 offers a better solution due to the more efficient Intel HD Graphics 515 graphics unit, although both chips are not suitable for modern titles. With a Thermal Design Power of 4.5 watts, the power consumption is very low. The architecture with 4 megabytes of Level 3 cache and 30 GB/s memory bandwidth ensures efficient data processing in compact premium devices.

The Intel Pentium N4200 was released in 2016 and is aimed at budget-conscious users. It is often found in affordable laptops or mini PCs.

It uses the Apollo Lake architecture and is also manufactured using the 14-nanometer process. In contrast to the m3 model, the Intel Pentium N4200 has four physical cores without hyper-threading. Despite the higher number of cores, the computing power in common benchmarks falls noticeably behind the Intel Core m3-6Y30.

The Intel HD Graphics 505 graphics unit lags behind the Core model in graphical performance and is limited to simple visual tasks. With a Thermal Design Power of 6 watts, it consumes slightly more energy with a memory bandwidth of 30 GB/s. The Intel Pentium N4200 offers a good price-performance ratio.
