Google Tensor G5 vs Intel Core Ultra 9 386H

Last updated:
The Google Tensor G5 and the Intel Core Ultra 9 386H are processors designed for different target groups.

The Google Tensor G5 is based on the G5 Laguna architecture and is primarily designed for mobile systems, while the Intel Core Ultra 9 386H belongs to the Panther Lake H series and serves as a high-end processor for demanding computing tasks. In manufacturing, the Google Tensor G5 uses a 3-nm process from ARM.

The architecture features 0 MB of Level 2 and Level 3 cache, which simplifies the chip structure. The maximum memory bandwidth is 51 GB/s. In benchmarks, the Google Tensor G5 shows solid single-core performance but falls significantly behind the competition in multi-core applications.

The integrated IMG DXT-48-1536 graphics unit is optimized for everyday tasks but reaches its limits with complex gaming. The Intel Core Ultra 9 386H is manufactured using a 2-nm process. With 16 MB of Level 2 cache and 18 MB of Level 3 cache, it offers high data processing speeds. The memory bandwidth is more than twice as high as that of its competitor at 136 GB/s.

In tests, this processor outperforms the Google Tensor G5 in single- and multi-core performance by far more than ten percent. Especially in gaming, the Intel Xe3 4 Core Graphics 32 EUs (Panther Lake) delivers more stable results. Due to the TDP, power consumption is higher, but this is accompanied by superior computing power.

The price-performance ratio is aimed at professional users. Depending on the use case, the Google Tensor G5 is recommended for mobile efficiency and the Intel Core Ultra 9 386H for maximum computing power.
