Apple A15 Bionic (5-GPU) vs Samsung Exynos 2200

Last updated:
The Apple A15 Bionic (5-GPU) and the Samsung Exynos 2200 are highly advanced mobile processors for premium smartphones and tablets.

The Apple A15 Bionic (5-GPU) was introduced by Apple in late 2021 and manufactured using a 5 nm fabrication process, including 16 MB L2 and 32 MB L3 cache. It demonstrates significantly superior computing performance in single-core and multi-core benchmarks, with differences of over 10 percent compared to its competitor.

Its integrated Apple A15 (5 GPU Cores) delivers very strong and consistent graphics performance for gaming. The processor is known for its excellent energy efficiency with a maximum memory bandwidth of 34 GB/s. The Samsung Exynos 2200, introduced by Samsung in early 2022, utilizes a 4 nm fabrication process and is based on an Armv9 architecture with Cortex-X2, Cortex-A710, and Cortex-A510 cores.

Although it shows lower computing performance than the Apple chip in benchmarks, it offers solid multi-core performance for its device class. Its Samsung Xclipse 920 GPU is based on AMD RDNA 2 and supports advanced features like raytracing, but in practice, it often couldn't achieve the consistent gaming performance of the Apple chip.

With a higher maximum memory bandwidth of 51 GB/s, it tended to have higher power consumption and potential thermal throttling under sustained load. A direct price-performance ratio of the processors cannot be evaluated due to their integration into end devices.
