AMD Ryzen 3 5300U vs Intel Processor N97

Last updated:
The AMD Ryzen 3 5300U, introduced in the first quarter of 2021, is a mobile processor based on Zen 2 (Lucienne architecture), manufactured using a 7-nm process.

It offers 4 cores, 8 threads, and 6 MB cache (2 MB L2, 4 MB L3). It is designed for thin devices that require solid performance for everyday tasks. The Intel Processor N97, released in the first quarter of 2023, is based on the Alder Lake N architecture, manufactured using a 10-nm process.

It features 4 cores, 4 threads, and 10 MB cache (4 MB L2, 6 MB L3). It targets the entry-level segment for basic functionality and low power consumption in mini-PCs. In benchmarks, the AMD Ryzen 3 5300U shows a significant performance advantage of over 10 percent in single-core and multi-core tasks compared to the Intel Processor N97, making it more suitable for demanding applications.

Neither is primarily designed for gaming. However, the integrated AMD Radeon RX Vega 6 (Renoir) of the Ryzen 3 5300U offers higher graphics performance than the Intel UHD Graphics 24 EUs (Alder Lake) of the N97, which can be noticeable in very simple games. The AMD Ryzen 3 5300U has a configurable TDP of 10 to 25 watts.

The Intel Processor N97 operates with a fixed TDP of 12 watts and is thus tends to be more energy-efficient at low utilization. Both processors are positioned in the budget-friendly segment. The AMD Ryzen 3 5300U offers a better price-performance ratio for somewhat more demanding needs due to its higher computing power.

The Intel Processor N97 is ideal for maximum energy efficiency and basic tasks.
