The
AMD Opteron X3216, based on the
Excavator architecture, represented a notable solution. Manufactured using the 28nm process, it was designed for efficient server and embedded applications. One of its great strengths was the integrated graphics unit, the AMD Radeon R7 - 256 (Toronto). This enabled the construction of systems without an additional graphics card.
This saved considerable space and noticeably reduced hardware costs. For many application areas that did not require high graphics performance, this was ideal. With 1 MB Level 2 Cache, the Opteron X3216 offered reliable performance. Its maximum memory bandwidth was 26 GB/s. It also supported PCIe 3.0, which was the standard for the time.
This chip proved to be a good choice for lean server environments. Its design aimed at functional reliability and continuity. We observed that it often functioned very stably in its intended area of ??application. The
AMD Opteron X3216 was therefore a pragmatic decision. It offered a cost-effective basis for specialized systems.
