The Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 (introduced late summer 2023) is aimed at upper mid-range smartphones.

It is manufactured using a 4 nm process and integrates an octa-core CPU (Kryo Gold/Silver) as well as a Qualcomm Adreno 710 graphics unit. Its focus is on a balanced ratio of performance and efficiency for everyday use. The Apple A16 Bionic (released late 2022) is the high-end processor for Apple's premium smartphones.

Also manufactured using a 4 nm process, it features a 6-core CPU and a 4-core GPU (Apple A16 (4 GPU Cores)) of the A16 architecture, complemented by 20 MB L2 and 24 MB L3 cache, which significantly improves data availability. The Apple A16 Bionic surpasses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 in single-core and multi-core performance by well over 10 percent, making it significantly more powerful for demanding tasks.

In gaming, the A16 Bionic offers considerably better performance thanks to its superior 4-core GPU and a maximum memory bandwidth of 51 GB/s compared to the Snapdragon's Adreno 710 with 17 GB/s. The Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 is designed for balanced energy efficiency in the mid-range. The A16 Bionic delivers peak performance, but controls its potentially higher power consumption under load through the efficient 4 nm process.

In terms of price, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 can be found in more affordable mid-range devices, while the A16 Bionic is exclusively in Apple's premium segment.
