It also features 8 MB of Level 3 cache and the integrated Intel HD Graphics 2000 unit. The Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 uses the Yorkfield architecture and was manufactured as a solution for the Core 2 generation in a 45-nm process.

It has four physical cores but lacks hyper-threading. A technical feature is the 12 MB Level 2 cache, while no Level 3 cache is present. In performance tests such as Cinebench R23, the Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 lags significantly behind the comparison model, as the per-clock performance is lower.

The maximum memory bandwidth is also 17 GB/s. With a TDP of 95 watts, the thermal load is identical, but the efficiency is lower. Since the Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 reaches its limits faster in games, it is primarily recommended for simple office work or specific configurations where it provides a stable foundation and exhibits a favorable price-performance ratio.
