The Apple A12 Bionic, internally referred to as A12, was manufactured using the 7 nm process and was a leading processor for mobile devices of its generation.

It integrates a 6-core CPU with two performance cores and four efficiency cores, as well as an Apple A12 graphics unit. With 8 MB L2 cache and a maximum memory bandwidth of 34 GB/s, this processor offered robust performance for everyday applications and multitasking. Its single-core and multi-core performance enabled a smooth user experience.

For gaming scenarios, the Apple A12 Bionic delivered good performance for the titles current at the time and showed efficient power management for its manufacturing class. The Apple A16 Bionic (5-CPU 4-GPU), codenamed A16, is manufactured using the more advanced 4 nm process and can be found in newer, high-end mobile devices.

It also features a 6-core CPU (two performance cores, four efficiency cores), complemented by a significantly more powerful Apple A16 graphics unit with four GPU cores. With 20 MB L2 cache, 24 MB L3 cache, and a maximum memory bandwidth of 51 GB/s, it significantly surpasses the Apple A12 Bionic.

Its single-core and multi-core performance is substantially higher, manifesting in superior performance for demanding applications and a smoother gaming experience. The improved manufacturing also contributes to better energy efficiency and thermal performance.
