Geekbench 6 is a benchmark for modern computers, notebooks and smartphones. What is new is an optimized utilization of newer CPU architectures, e.g. based on the big.LITTLE concept and combining CPU cores of different sizes. The single-core benchmark only evaluates the performance of the fastest CPU core, the number of CPU cores in a processor is irrelevant here.

Description of the processor

With the Intel Core i9-9900KF, Intel has an 8-core processor with Hyper-Threading (16 threads) on offer, which is technically similar to the Intel Core i9-9900K, but does not have an iGPU. The processor clocks its CPU cores at a base rate of 3.6 GHz, but can increase all cores up to 4.7 GHz (multicore turbo). In single-core operation, even 5.0 GHz are possible.

The fact that the Intel Core i9-9900KF lacks the iGPU can be recognized by the "F" at the end of the product name. Since these types of processors are often used in game computers with dedicated graphics cards, buying an Intel Core i9 processor without an iGPU can make sense. Currently (February 2020) you can save 40 euros - with otherwise the same computing power of the CPU.

The Intel Core i9-9900KF supports 128 GB RAM of the type DDR4-2666 in a maximum of 2 memory channels. The internal memory controller of the processor can also handle faster working memory. The Intel Core i9-9900KF is based on the Coffee Lake S Refresh and has 16 MB level 3 cache. It fits into socket 1151-2 and is manufactured directly at Intel using an improved 14 nm manufacturing process.

Like all K processors from Intel, the Intel Core i9-9900KF also has an open multiplier. Therefore, overclocking the processor is very easy. Intel specifies the processor with a TDP of 95 watts, but in practice the processor can consume up to 180 watts of energy without overclocking. If you want to overclock beyond the normal clock frequencies, you must have a sufficiently good CPU cooling. In addition to all-in-one water cooling, so-called custom solutions are also available here, which can be tailored precisely to the processor requirement.

Intel presented the Intel Core i9-9900KF in the first quarter of 2019 at a price of almost 600 euros.
