Geekbench 6 (Single-Core)

Geekbench 6 is a benchmark for modern computers, notebooks and smartphones. What is new is an optimized utilization of newer CPU architectures, e.g. based on the big.LITTLE concept and combining CPU cores of different sizes. The single-core benchmark only evaluates the performance of the fastest CPU core, the number of CPU cores in a processor is irrelevant here.

Description of the processor

The Intel Core i7-4790K is one of the most popular processors from the Haswell series of Intels Core i7 processors and was at the time of appearing one of the fastest consumer processors on the processor market.

The Intel Core i7-4790K has 4 cores that have a standard clock of 4.00 Gigahertz. When the processor uses the processor, the turbomodus is activated, which raises the cycle for single core load to 4.40 gigahertz and in the utilization of all 4 cores at least to 4.20 gigahertz per core. In addition, the processor supports the hyperthreading technology from Intel, whereby the processor can share virtually, if necessary, to share each core in order to run more computing operations at once.

One of the main reasons why the Intel Core i7-4790K is so popular because it is ideal for overclocking and so again a whole piece of power becomes more powerful. But then, of course, a standard cooling, such as with the Intel Boxed fan, is no longer sufficient. Here, at least one high-performance processor cooler must be used by, for example, Noctua or convenient. If you want to get the last little performance out of the Intel Core I7-4790K, then does not come around the use of a water cooling.

A graphic unit is already integrated in the Intel Core i7-4790K. This carries the name "Intel HD Graphics 4600", has 20 execution units, clocks in the base with 0.35 Gigahertz and can increase up to 1.25 Gigahertz at full utilization in turbomodus. The graphics unit supports the control of up to 3 monitors.

On the decoding and encoding of the HEVC codec (H.265) in hardware, one must unfortunately still do without this processoreneration, but at least the very widespread H.264 codec is supported in hardware decoding.
