Description of the processor

The Intel Core i5-8600K is a processor from the eighth generation of the Intel Core i5 family. It was launched in the fourth quarter of 2017 and is based on the Coffee Lake S architecture. The processor comes from Intels desktop segment and is manufactured with a structure width of 14 nanometers. The Intel Core i5-8600K is designed for the LGA 1151-2 socket and supports both Windows and Linux as operating systems.

The Intel Core i5-8600K is equipped with 6 processor cores. It doesnt support hyperthreading, but can be overclocked thanks to a free multiplier. However, if you want to use the option of overclocking, the processor must be adequately cooled; for example, water cooling of the processor is an option. The base clock frequency of the processor cores is 3.60 gigahertz and the maximum clock frequency is 4.30 gigahertz. However, this maximum clock rate is only achieved when a single core is fully utilized. If all cores are fully utilized at the same time, the maximum clock rate is still 4.10 gigahertz.

The Intel UHD Graphics 630 is integrated into the processor as an internal graphics unit. This iGPU has 24 execution units with a total of 192 shaders and, like the processor itself, is manufactured with a structure width of 14 nanometers. The base clock of the graphics unit is 350 megahertz and the maximum turbo clock is 1.15 gigahertz. It achieves an FP32 computing power of 442 GigaFLOPS (single precision) and can supply a total of up to 3 monitors with one image. It can use up to 64 gigabytes of the systems built-in RAM.

The Intel Core i5-8600K has 2 memory channels and can be operated with up to 128 gigabytes of RAM. The processor supports DDR4-2666 memory, which in this configuration achieves a memory bandwidth of 42.7 GB/s.
