Description of the processor

The Intel Core i5-7300U is a processor from the seventh generation of Intels Core i5 family. It comes from Intels mobile segment and is therefore mainly used in notebooks, but it is also installed in finished PCs with small cases, so-called mini PCs. The processor is manufactured with a structure width of 14 nanometers and is based on the Kaby Lake U architecture.

The processor has 2 cores, so it is a dual-core processor. Thanks to the existing hyperthreading technology, the 2 cores can be divided into up to 4 computing threads. This is always possible when an application can use multiple cores and the 2 physical cores are not fully utilized. The base clock frequency of the processor is 2.60 gigahertz and in turbo mode the clock speed can be increased up to 3.50 gigahertz.

The Intel HD Graphics 620 is used as the internal graphics unit in the Intel Core i5-7300U. This graphics unit is equipped with 24 execution units and 192 shader units and can supply up to 3 monitors with one image. The base clock of the graphics unit is 300 megahertz, which can be increased to up to 1.10 gigahertz in turbo mode. This means that the iGPU achieves an FP32 computing power of 422 GigaFLOPS. The graphics unit, like the processor, is manufactured using the 14 nanometer process and can use up to 32 gigabytes of the systems built-in RAM.

The processor is equipped with 2 memory channels through which it can be operated with up to 32 gigabytes of RAM. Officially, the Intel Core i5-7300U supports DDR4-2133 memory, which means the maximum memory bandwidth is 34.1 GB/s.

The Intel Core i5-7300U is equipped with a 3.00 megabyte level 3 cache and supports the following virtualization technologies: VT-x, VT-x EPT, VT-d.
