Description of the processor

The Intel Celeron N3450 is a very popular processor in the field of economical mini PCs or in very simple notebooks. Due to its low TDP, it is even possible to passively cool the processor, as Zotac shows with its ZBOX CI327 nano.

The Intel Celeron N3450 is a quad-core CPU, i.e. a processor with 4 physical cores. Each core has a clock rate of 1.10 gigahertz. If necessary, the processor switches to turbo mode and the clock rate is increased to 2.20 gigahertz. It does not matter whether only one or all 4 cores are used.

The internal graphics unit “Intel HD Graphics 500” comes from the 9th generation of Intel’s graphics units and has a base clock rate of 0.20 gigahertz. If necessary, the GPU goes into turbo mode where the clock is increased to up to 0.70 gigahertz. With its 12 execution units, the "Intel HD Graphics 500" supports Microsofts DirectX version 11.2 and can control up to 3 screens in parallel. With the number of monitors, however, it mainly depends on the device used, because not all devices have enough interfaces to use 3 monitors.

At the TDP of the Intel Celeron N3450 of only 6 watts, you can already see that the CPU is not a power hog. In connection with the fact that all important video codecs can be decoded by the processor in hardware, Mini PCs with this processor are ideally suited as media players. As an example, you could equip the Zotac ZBOX CI327 nano mentioned above with LibreELEC (a Linux stand-alone version of Kodi) and thus have a silent media player that supports all current video formats and is also constantly being developed.

In terms of memory, the Intel Celeron N3450 supports both DDR3 and DDR4 memory modules. Which main memory is really required, however, always depends on the device used.
