Geekbench 6 is a benchmark for modern computers, notebooks and smartphones. What is new is an optimized utilization of newer CPU architectures, e.g. based on the big.LITTLE concept and combining CPU cores of different sizes. The single-core benchmark only evaluates the performance of the fastest CPU core, the number of CPU cores in a processor is irrelevant here.

Description of the processor

The AMD Ryzen 5 3600X is the largest Ryzen 5 version. Its 6 cores already clock with 3.8 GHz in the base, and up to 4.2 GHz in applications and games that can use all cores. The single-core Turbo is at 4.5 GHz and enables a good execution speed even in applications without multi-core support.

The processor uses Hyper-Threading to provide 12 logical processors. It is overclockable and, as the largest expansion stage of the third-generation Ryzen 5 processors, comes with a slightly higher TDP budget of 95 watts (normally 65 watts).

The AMD Ryzen 5 3600X is a very popular gaming processor because the price-performance ratio is very good and the processor proves to be very clock-happy. It can address working memory up to the DDR4-3200 standard, but special working memory also enables even higher clock rates. The processor offers dual-channel support via its two memory channels as usual in this class.

ECC memory is also supported, which can independently detect and fix simple memory errors - directly via hardware. However, the motherboard also has to support the ECC function. Like all newer 3rd generation Ryzen processors, the AMD Ryzen 5 3600X also supports PCIe 4.0. 16 PCIe lines are available for connecting devices. The AMD Ryzen 5 3600X does not have a graphics card itself, which makes an external graphics card mandatory.

The AMD Ryzen 5 3600X is based on AMDs Zen 2 architecture, which is manufactured in 7 nm structure at AMDs former semiconductor division, Globalfoundries. It features a 32-megabyte Level 3 cache and was introduced in Q3 2019. The launch price of the AMD Ryzen 5 3600X was around 215 Euros.
