Geekbench 6 (Single-Core)

Geekbench 6 is a benchmark for modern computers, notebooks and smartphones. What is new is an optimized utilization of newer CPU architectures, e.g. based on the big.LITTLE concept and combining CPU cores of different sizes. The single-core benchmark only evaluates the performance of the fastest CPU core, the number of CPU cores in a processor is irrelevant here.

Description of the processor

The AMD GX-420GI is a 4-core mobile processor. It does not support simultaneous multithreading and therefore can only execute one thread per CPU core. Since it is a mobile processor, it cannot be overclocked. The AMD GX-420GIs normal clock frequency is 2.0 GHz. In Turbo mode, the processor can increase its clock frequency up to 2.2 GHz as long as the processor does not get too warm. The junction limit for this CPU is 90 °C.

AMD uses the AMD Radeon R7E as integrated graphics in the AMD GX-420GI. This has 6 execution units and 384 texture shaders. The graphics cards GCN 1.2/2.0 (Graphics Core Next) architecture is not as fast as the current RDNA architecture that AMD uses in its more modern processors.

The iGPU only has a theoretical computing power of 0.5 TFLOPS (FP32). Accordingly, the AMD GX-420GI is not suitable for PC games. The processor is designed for simple work with its 4 CPU cores. Since the clock frequency of 2.0-2.2 GHz is not very high, the processor is relatively economical.

The processor can use up to 16 GB of DDR3-1866 memory. In single-channel mode, the maximum memory bandwidth is 15.0 GB/s. External devices can be connected via a total of 8 PCIe 2.0 lines (4.0 GB/s). The Level 2 cache of the AMD GX-420GI is relatively small at 2 MB. The AVX instruction set is supported, as is AMD-V virtualization.

The TDP is 15 watts, which the CPU and the GPU part of the processor have to share. The processor is manufactured using an older 28 nm process. The AMD GX-420GI was released in 2016, although the integrated graphics have been available since 2014. Windows 10 or any Linux operating system are suitable as operating systems.
