AnTuTu 9 Benchmark

The AnTuTu 9 benchmark is very well suited to measuring the performance of a smartphone. AnTuTu 9 is quite heavy on 3D graphics and can now also use the "Metal" graphics interface. In AnTuTu, memory and UX (user experience) are also tested by simulating browser and app usage. AnTuTu version 9 can compare any ARM CPU running on Android or iOS. Devices may not be directly comparable when benchmarked on different operating systems.

In the AnTuTu 9 benchmark, the single-core performance of a processor is only slightly weighted. The rating is made up of the multi-core performance of the processor, the speed of the working memory, and the performance of the internal graphics.

Comparison of the two processors

In the CPU comparison between the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 and the Samsung Exynos 2100, their similarity is immediately noticeable. Both have 8 CPU cores, 1 of which acts as a so-called "Prime" core. This CPU core is clocked particularly high at 2.84 to 2.9 GHz. It is supplemented by 3 high-performance cores each. In addition, both processors each have 4 efficiency cores that work with lower clock frequencies and are particularly energy-saving. The basic structure of the cores is called "Prime / big.LITTLE".

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 has a base frequency of 1.8 GHz, while the Samsung Exynos 2100 is allowed to clock with at least 2.2 GHz. Both processors are used in high-end smartphones or tablets and are already manufactured in 5 nm. Such a small manufacturing structure has a positive effect on power consumption, and both processors achieve very high clock frequencies. Both mobile processors are based on the ARMv8-A64 (64 bit) instruction set.

The graphics units of the SoCs are well equipped with the Qualcomm Adreno 660 in the Snapdragon 888 and the ARM Mali-G78 MP14 in the Samsung Exynos 2100. The Qualcomm Adreno 660 is a little faster with 1.7 TFLOPS (FP32) than the ARM Mali-G78 MP14, which still has a good 1.4 TFLOPS of graphics processing power. The graphics performance of both mobile processors is sufficient to play all currently available smartphone games with good graphics and resolution.

Both processors can be equipped with LPDDR4X-4266 (2133 MHz), but also work with newer LPDDR5-3200 memory. The computing power of the two SoCs is high; in the AnTuTu benchmark, both the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 and the Samsung Exynos 2100 both take top positions. Accordingly, the two processors can only be found in high-priced devices.
