Description of the processor

The Intel Core i5-1135G7 is a mobile processor with 4 CPU cores. It is based on Intels Tiger Lake architecture (Tiger Lake U), which is manufactured in 10 nm and has a significantly increased raw IPC performance (computing operations per cycle).

Using Hyper-Threading (SMT) technology, the processor can process up to 8 threads at the same time. Depending on the situation, the Hyper-Threading technology can increase the processing power of the processor by up to 40 percent. For this purpose, gaps that arise when instructions are sent to a CPU core are filled with new tasks.

The base clock of the Intel Core i5-1135G7 is quite low 2.4 GHz. However, the processor can increase its clock rate up to 4.2 GHz when using only one CPU core. When using multiple CPU cores, the clock rate can still be increased up to 3.8 GHz. Like most mobile processors, the Intel Core i5-1135G7 cannot be overclocked.

The iGPU (internal graphics) of the processor also turns out to be a real innovation. The Intel Iris Xe Graphics 80 (Tiger Lake G7) has 80 execution units and 640 shader units and uses a completely newly developed architecture. The new and free AV1 codec is already supported or accelerated by the Intel Iris Xe Graphics 80 (Tiger Lake G7) via hardware.

With 15 watts, the Intel Core i5-1135G7 is in the normal TDP class, which is often used for thinner and smaller notebooks. With good cooling solutions, the system manufacturer can increase the TDP to up to 28 watts, which can lead to significantly more computing power, especially when the CPU and iGPU are loaded at the same time.

The processor has an 8 MB level 3 cache and is soldered in the BGA 1526 socket on the notebooks mainboard. It is therefore not exchangeable later.
