Intel Core i3-8130U vs Intel Celeron N4500

Last updated:
The Intel Core i3-8130U, introduced in the first quarter of 2018 and based on the 14nm Kaby Lake U Refresh architecture, is equipped with 2 cores and 4 threads.

It features 4 MB of Level 3 Cache and an Intel UHD Graphics 620. Its performance in single- and multi-core applications is significantly higher than that of the Intel Celeron N4500, making it better suited for everyday tasks and light multitasking.

For gaming scenarios, it offers slightly better performance at very low settings. Its typical Thermal Design Power (TDP) is 15W, which means higher power consumption than the Celeron. This leads to better overall performance for the price in lower mid-range devices. The Intel Celeron N4500, launched in the first quarter of 2021, uses the more modern 10nm Jasper Lake architecture and offers 2 cores and 2 threads.

With 2 MB of Level 2 and 4 MB of Level 3 Cache, as well as an Intel UHD Graphics 16 EUs (Jasper Lake), it is designed for basic computing requirements. Its computing power is lower than that of the Intel Core i3-8130U in all areas. The biggest advantage of the Intel Celeron N4500 is its high energy efficiency with a TDP of only 6W, making it ideal for long battery life in budget-friendly devices where cost and minimal power consumption are paramount.

It is not intended for demanding games.
