Geekbench 6 is a benchmark for modern computers, notebooks and smartphones. What is new is an optimized utilization of newer CPU architectures, e.g. based on the big.LITTLE concept and combining CPU cores of different sizes. The single-core benchmark only evaluates the performance of the fastest CPU core, the number of CPU cores in a processor is irrelevant here.

Description of the processor

The Intel Core i7-12700T is a processor from Intels Core i7 series. It is from the 12th generation of this series and was released by Intel in the first quarter of 2022. It is manufactured using the 10-nanometer process, has a monolithic chip design and is based on the Alder Lake S architecture. This is a desktop processor based on the LGA 1700 socket and can therefore be installed on any mainboard with this socket.

The processor is equipped with a 12 megabyte level 2 cache and a 25 megabyte level 3 cache. It has 12 cores divided into 8 high-performance cores and 4 efficiency cores. The high-performance cores clock at 1.40 gigahertz and can increase their clock rate to up to 4.70 gigahertz in turbo mode. The efficiency cores clock significantly lower at 1.00 gigahertz (turbo mode up to 3.40 gigahertz). Hyperthreading technology is only supported by the high-performance cores, which means that the processor has a total of 20 computing threads at its disposal.

The Intel UHD Graphics 770, which comes from the eleventh generation of Intels iGPUs, is used as the internal graphics unit in the Intel Core i7-12700T. This graphics unit was first installed in a processor in the fourth quarter of 2021. Like the processor, it is manufactured using the 10-nanometer process and is able to supply up to 3 screens with an image in parallel. The graphics unit, which is equipped with 32 execution units and 256 shader units, clocks at 0.30 gigahertz and can increase its clock rate to up to 1.50 gigahertz in turbo mode. It achieves an FP32 computing power of 768 GigaFLOPS.

The Intel Core i7-12700T has 2 memory channels through which it can control up to 128 gigabytes of RAM. It supports DDR4-3200 or DDR5-4800 memory modules and can even handle ECC memory.
