News and articles for the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D and the AMD Ryzen 9 7900X

Comparison of the two processors

With the AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, released in the first quarter of 2023, and the AMD Ryzen 9 7900X, released in the fourth quarter of 2022, we are comparing 2 processors from the sixth generation of Ryzen processors from AMD. The primary issue here is what exactly is the difference between a Ryzen 7 and a Ryzen 9 processor of the same generation and therefore of course the same architecture (Raphael - Zen 4).

Both processors are based on a standard processor core architecture. The AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D has 8 processor cores that clock at up to 5.00 gigahertz and also supports hyperthreading, which means a maximum of 16 computing threads are available. The AMD Ryzen 9 7900X is equipped with 12 cores and these clock at up to 5.60 gigahertz. Hyperthreading is also supported by the AMD Ryzen 9 7900X, which means it has up to 24 threads available.

Both processors have the identical graphics unit with AMD Radeon Graphics (Raphael) and it even clocks exactly the same at up to 2.20 gigahertz. This graphics unit has 2 execution units and 128 shaders and achieves FP32 computing power of 563 GigaFLOPS. The iGPU is manufactured with a structure width of just 5 nanometers and can use up to 8 GB of the system's built-in RAM.

Both processors are equipped with 2 memory channels each and can be operated with up to 128 gigabytes of RAM. They officially support the operation of DDR5-5200 memory and memory modules with automatic error correction (ECC memory) are also supported by both processors.

The AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D has an 8.00 megabyte Level 2 cache and a 96.00 megabyte Level 3 cache, while the AMD Ryzen 9 7900X has a 12.00 megabyte Level 2 cache and a 64.00 megabyte Level 3 cache Cache equipped.
