In the CPU comparison of the AMD Ryzen 7 4800H against the AMD Ryzen 7 5800H, it becomes clear that this is a great evolution. The AMD Ryzen 7 5800h is located in most benchmarks between 15 and 20 percent before the AMD Ryzen 7 4800H which is also the direct predecessor of the AMD Ryzen 7 5800h.

Both mobile processors have 8 relatively low-clocked CPU cores that support hyperthreading (simultaneous multi-threading) and can process 16 parallel threads.

The AMD Ryzen 7 5800H has a base clock of 3.2 GHz and can lift its clock frequency over the turbo mode to up to 4.4 GHz at load on only one CPU core. If more cores are required, 3.8 GHz are still possible. Somewhat lower, the AMD Ryzen is 7 4800H for thing in which the base clock is 2.9 GHz. A CPU core can clock a maximum of 4.2 GHz, multiple cores are loaded still 4.2 GHz possible.

The newer "Cezanne" processor may already resort to the new Zen 3 CPU cores, while the AMD Ryzen 7 4800H still sets 2 CPU cores. The IGPU (internal graphics unit) is almost identical in both cases: the AMD Radeon 8 Graphics (Renoir) of the AMD Ryzen 7 5800H has 8 execution units and a slightly higher cycle than the AMD Radeon 7 Graphics (Renoir) of the AMD Ryzen 7 4800H, the on 7 execution units. In the end, the performance advantage of the new processor with about 20 percent is manageable. Both graphics cards can display games in low to medium detail. Unfortunately, the new VideoCodec AV1 does not support both graphics cards yet.

The "Cezannne" processor can respond to up to 64 GB of Type DDR4-3200 or LPDDR4-4266, while the older processor supports a maximum of 32 GB. In this performance class 32 GB but absolutely sufficient and no real disadvantage. The effect of more than 16 GB of work memory makes itself noticeable in very professional applications anyway.
