With the AMD Ryzen 7 5700U, AMD presents the direct successor to the AMD Ryzen 7 4700U. However, the AMD Ryzen 7 5700U does not come with the new AMD Zen 3 CPU cores, which are called "Cezanne" in the APU area. Instead, the AMD Ryzen 7 5700U still uses the same Zen 2 CPU cores that are used in the AMD Ryzen 7 4700U. However, the AMD Ryzen 7 5700U can now use Simultaneous Multi-Threading Technology (also known as Hyper-Threading at Intel). With this technology, the processor can now process 16 instead of only 8 threads at the same time. This results in an approximately 25 percent increase in the multi-core performance of the AMD Ryzen 7 5700U.

The AMD Ryzen 7 5700U is around 10 to 15 percent faster in single-core benchmarks. The base frequency is 1.8 GHz and thus 200 MHz lower than the AMD Ryzen 7 4700U. The mobile processor can increase the clock frequency up to 4.3 GHz when only one CPU core is loaded; the predecessor achieved 4.1 GHz here. When all CPU cores are under load, 3.3 GHz is still possible (4700U: 3.4 GHz).

The iGPU (internal graphics solution) of the AMD Ryzen 7 5700U has been updated. This can now fall back on an AMD Radeon 8 Graphics (Renoir) with 8 execution units (1 more than the 4700U) and 512 instead of 448 shaders. The maximum clock frequency of the graphics solution has also been increased from 1.6 to 1.9 GHz. Overall, this results in a 25 percent increase in raw graphics performance in FP32 calculations.

The manufacturer has not changed the maximum memory configuration of 32 GB DDR4-3200 or LPDDR4-4266 in a maximum of two memory channels. Both mobile processors have an 8 MB level 3 cache and are manufactured in 7 nm. The processors have a TDP of 15 watts and are designed for small notebooks in the medium price range.
