Monero Hashrate kH/s

The crypto currency Monero has been using the RandomX algorithm since November 2019. This PoW (proof of work) algorithm can only efficiently be calculated using a processor (CPU) or a graphics card (GPU). The CryptoNight algorithm was used for Monero until November 2019, but it could be calculated using ASICs. RandomX benefits from a high number of CPU cores, cache and a fast connection of the memory via as many memory channels as possible. Tested with XMRig v6.x under the operation system HiveOS.

Blender 2.81 (bmw27)

Blender is a free 3D graphics software for rendering (creating) 3D bodies, which can also be textured and animated in the software. The Blender benchmark creates predefined scenes and measures the time (s) required for the entire scene. The shorter the time required, the better. We selected bmw27 as the benchmark scene.

AMD has hit the bull's eye with the Ryzen 5xxx series and now also relegates Intel to the bottom in the single-core area, which is still particularly important for many PC games. In a direct comparison between the AMD Ryzen 5 5600X and the previous year's AMD Ryzen 5 3600 model, it quickly becomes clear how much power the new Ryzen 5xxx processors really have.

Because although both processors each have 6 CPU cores (12 threads through SMT), the AMD Ryzen 5 5600X can set itself apart from the previous year's AMD Ryzen 5 3600 model by around 20 percent in both single-core and multi-core benchmarks. On the one hand, this is due to the significantly increased clock frequencies and an improvement in the cache system of the new Zen 3 cores. Overall, the IPC benefit is 18 to 22 percent.

The new Zen 3 cores are based on AMD's "Vermeer" design. In total, the AMD Ryzen 5 5600X is backed by 32 MB level 3 cache. RAM is supported in two memory channels (dual channel) up to the DDR4-3200 standard. Unofficially, manual overclocking or the use of a D.O.C.P. Profile for automatic overclocking of the main memory, higher clock frequencies are also possible. DDR4-3600 should always be possible; depending on the size and quantity of the main memory modules, operation may also be possible. The processor supports a maximum of 128 GB of RAM.

The Ryzen 5xxx processors fit into the aging AM4 socket from AMD for the last time. From next year, a new socket with support for DDR5 and later PCIe 5.0 will be introduced with Ryzen 6xxx (Zen 4). Both processors are manufactured in 7 nm at TSMC and have a TDP of 65 watts. PCIe 4.0 is supported directly by the CPU with up to 20 lines. Dedicated graphics cards or fast M.2 SSDs can then be connected via this.
