VS Description of the processor

The two mobile processors AMD Ryzen 5 4600H and Intel Core i5-10300H are in the middle price segment of notebooks and were both presented in 2020. The AMD Ryzen 5 4600H has 6 cores (12 threads) and can achieve clock frequencies of 4.0 GHz in turbo mode. It is based on the Zen-2 design, which AMD has already produced in the energy-saving 7 nm manufacturing process at TSMC.

The Intel Core i5-10300H has 4 cores (8 threads) and reaches a high clock frequency of up to 4.5 GHz when only one core is used. If all 4 cores are used, up to 3.7 GHz are possible.

While both processors compute about the same speed in single-core load scenarios, the AMD Ryzen 5 4600H can clearly set itself apart from the Intel Core i5-10300H in applications and games that can use all cores. The AMD processor achieves a 50 percent higher performance here. The raw computing power per clock is also higher in the AMD Ryzen 5 4600H. The AMD processor benefits from the modern 7 nm manufacturing technology in which it is manufactured at TSMC. This not only increases the performance, but also makes the AMD processor a very energy-efficient processor. However, Intel still manufactures the Intel Core i5-10300H using the 14 nm process.

Both mobile processors are equipped with an internal graphics (iGPU). Here, too, Intel relies on an older solution with the Intel UHD Graphics 630, which does not stand a chance against the AMD Radeon 6 Graphics (Renoir) of the AMD Ryzen 5 4600H. The graphics solutions play in completely different leagues, which is also reflected in the FP32 raw performance: the AMD Ryzen 5 4600H has a graphics performance that is 2.7 times as high as the Intel processor. While you can even consider games in 1080p with the AMD Radeon 6 Graphics (Renoir), the Intel UHD Graphics 630 is limited to very old games in low details.
