Description of the processor

The Intel Core i7-4790 was launched in the second quarter of 2014 and is from the fourth generation of the Intel Core i7 series. It is based on the Intel socket LGA 1150 and supports the following virtualization technologies: VT-x, VT-x EPT, VT-d. The Intel Core i7-4790 is based on the Haswell S processor architecture and is manufactured using the 22-nanometer process.

The processor has 4 cores with a base clock frequency of 3.60 gigahertz. The maximum turbo clock is 4.00 gigahertz when a single core is loaded and still 3.80 gigahertz when all cores are loaded. The processor supports Hyperthreading technology, which means that up to 8 computing threads are available. The Intel Core i7-4790 cannot be overclocked, this is reserved for the Intel Core i7-4790K.

The Intel HD Graphics 4600 is used as the internal graphics unit in the processor. This iGPU clocks at 0.35 gigahertz and has a maximum dynamic clock frequency of 1.20 gigahertz. The graphics unit, which was used for the first time in the second quarter of 2013, is manufactured using the 22-nanometer process and can supply up to 3 monitors with an image.
