Description of the processor

The AMD E-450 is a small mobile processor for e.g. Notebooks, which has two CPU cores (dual core). The AMD E-450 was designed for netbooks or small and affordable notebooks. It does not have SMT (simultaneous multi-threading) and therefore can work out only 2 threads in parallel.

The clock frequency of the processor is quite low 1.65 GHz, via turbo mode or other ways to adapt its clock frequency dynamically, the AMD E-450 does not have. Due to its quite low performance, the processor is therefore equipped only for simple office activities.

The APU relies on AMDs Zacate design, which combines BOBCAT CPU cores with an AMD Radeon HD 6320 IGPU. The graphics card has only 80 shaders and therefore is not suitable for PC games. The graphics performance in the FP32 range is about 81 gflops. The Level 2 cache of the processor is 1 MB.

The TDP of the processor is 18 watts, an active ventilation is needed in most cases. RAM Type DDR3-1333 is supported (1 memory channel), as well as the new IGPU now supports HDMI 1.4A, which makes 1080p @ 60 Hz possible. The 4K resolution can only be transferred to a monitor via 30 Hz.

The AMD E-450 is manufactured at globalfoundries in 40 nm. It is 64 bit capable and comes to a size of about 75 mm². The processor is soldered to the mainboard in the Socket FT1 (BGA) and is therefore not interchangeable. New technologies such as MMX (+), SSE1,2,3,4 and the AMD-V virtualization features are supported.

In most benchmarks, the processor achieves very low values. Despite the fact that the processor has only two CPU cores, it is approximately fast as the Intel Atom X5-Z8300, which has 4 cores over 4 cores. The AMD E-450 was presented in the 3rd quarter of 2011.
