Description of the processor

The Intel Core i5-6500 is a processor of the sixth generation from Intels Core-i5 series. It is based on the Skylake architecture from Intels CPU program and is manufactured in 14 nanometer. The market launch took place in the third quarter of 2015.

The Intel Core i5-6500 has 4 physical cores which have a clock frequency of 3.20 gigahertz. In the so-called turbomodus, the processor can increase the clock to up to 3.60 gigahertz. However, this is only possible with the utilization of a single processor core, all cores are claimed to increase the beat after all up to 3.40 gigahertz. The processor can not be overclocked and does not support hyperthreading, so it remains with the above-mentioned clock rates and the 4 physical cores.

The Intel Core i5-6500 has an internal graphics unit named Intel HD Graphics 530. This graphics unit has a basic clock of 350 megahertz and a maximum dynamic clock frequency of 1.15 gigahertz. The Intel HD Graphics 530 originating from the ninth generation of Intels graphics units supports Microsofts DirectX in version 12 and OpenGL in version 4.5. With the graphics unit, up to 3 monitors can be operated in parallel. Over an HDMI connection, a maximum resolution of 4096x2304 is possible at up to 24 Hertz and the display port from 4096x2304 to up to 60 Hertz.

The main memory supports the Intel Core i5-6500 modules of type DDR4 with 1866 and 2133 Megahertz and type DDR3L with 1333 and 1600 megahertz, respectively. The maximum size of the memory that can be addressed via the 2 storage channels can be 64 gigabytes. ECC storage modules are not supported by the processor.

Furthermore, all virtualization technologies and AES-Ni encryption are supported by the Intel Core i5-6500.
